Where do you get the resources and tools you need to become successful in the entertainment industry? Furthermore, where can you get these things for FREE?  Now introducing the Kaback Talent Academy!

“From the dawn of mankind, the single idea we have all shared despite race, religion or background, the one vital concept that has endowed us with our humanity, has been the notion of storytelling.”

So what is KTA?

At some moment, all of us, whether as kids or adults, have dreamt we were a famous singer, actor or model, even if just for a fleeting moment.

The Kaback Talent Academy, designed equally for beginner as well as experienced talent, provides modern techniques, advice and most importantly the resources to go from novice to professional in the entertainment industry.  KTA provides a foundation of training rooted in the time-honored traditions of people who have been successful and who desire to give back by offering the next generation of entertainers a roadmap of what works and what doesn’t.

“The Academy” is a FREE service offering instructional video, up-to-the-minute access to real-time castings, as well as downloadable e-books and PDF guides on insider techniques.   KTA covers what both experienced and new models, actors, and musicians need to know to succeed with subjects such as, “How to be signed by an agent or manager” and “How to land your Dream Job” all written by a who’s who of A-list individuals actively involved in the entertainment industry in NY and LA.

Imagine a world without Arts and Entertainment

Any endeavor in life takes experience and knowledge. For the past five years we have interviewed thousands of truly gifted individuals and many of them lacked one key factor- the resources and circle of connections to support their dreams.  We used to say to those individuals, “Why swim with ducks, when you can soar with eagles.”

“Our concept is easy to master—Learn, perfect your ability and build relationships with those who can show you the way.”

At the same time we were saddened to see so many of these people spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on products and services,  such as photos or classes, from companies all with good intentions, but that unfortunately could not guarantee success or even a shot at a legitimate job.  Thus you got just what you paid for– pictures and basic classes. So we asked, “What do the people with talent, looks and determination really need that’s not some false promise with a price tag to boot?

The Talent Academy was born.

Major Model Management Review

Major Model Management was established in 2000 by Katia Sherman, co-founder and President. Their extensive client list ranges from Covergirl, Dior, Estee Lauder, Gucci, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein to Italian and American Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Visionaire, Citizen K and Numero.

Major’s star Tiiu Kiuk is joined on the board by the faces of tomorrow, Dalia, Song and Sasha. Major’s men’s board, headed by men’s director, Jason Kanner, includes such heavyhitters as Ryan S, Jon Passavant, Doug Pickett, Steve Gold and Parker Shin.

Their men’s board outshines their women’s.  I wouldn’t recommend this agency for the ladies, or in the United States for that matter.  Their Milan Agency is a powerhouse, but in NYC not so much.  Major needs to pay a little more attention to all aspects of their company and focus on getting everything on the same level.

Good Agencies Reviews IMG Models

Top Modeling AgenciesIMG Models is a major international modeling agency, and one of the major players in the modeling world today.  IMG exclusively represents only female models. Their main office is located in the fashion capital of the world: New York City, with branches in Paris, London, Milan and Hong Kong. It is a division of New York, NY-based IMG. IMG also manages  athletes- which is how they actually got started, scoring athletes large endorsement deals. Golfer Arnold Palmer was their first client! Thus, the drink Arnold Palmer– ice tea and lemonade!

IMG moved on to modeling and is now responsible for the representation of some of the world’s most in-demand models, including Gisele, Kate Moss, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Gemma Ward, Du Juan, Sasha Pivovarova, Freja Beha, Lara Stone and Lily Cole.

With the endorsements IMG was doing something innovative– in their way, they revolutionized marketing.  While they have big model names behind them, they aren’t really doing anything profound in the way of representing models.  IMG could change the world; they did it once, but they just aren’t pushing through the status quo, like we know they could.

Good Agencies Reviews NEXT Model Management

Next Model Management was established 22 years ago and now has offices all over the world in London, Paris, Milan, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. NEXT represents notable models including Anja Rubik, Karlie Kloss, Abbey Lee, Miranda Kerr, Catherine McNeil and Ana Beatriz Barros.

NEXT agency founder, Faith Kates, runs NEXT’s international network alongside Joel Wilkenfeld. They have an amazing team of bookers, talent scouts and model developers who are some of the most respected and influential people in the fashion industry, always at the forefront of fashion with global brands at their fingertips.

Their New Faces division is hugely successful, with a team of talent scouts working around the globe sourcing stunning new models every day.

NEXT also represents artists in the fields of hair, makeup, stylists, manicurists, props/sets, and kid’s grooming.  In addition, NEXT has a chef division based in our NYC office called Two12@Next which represents and works with the worlds foremost chefs and culinary brands.

The problem is that 22 years isn’t a very long time and representing such diverse artist such as chef’s, how could NEXT really have the resources to give each of their clients their due attention.

Good Agencies Reviews Colby Models

Alycia Kaback Success Stories, Colby ModelsColby Models is a boutique high-end editorial model management company located in New York City. Colby opened in November by industry expert Ryan Colby.

Ryan began his career as a model at the age of 12 in London and soon became an in demand fashion model in Paris, London, NY and Tokyo.  After 12 years he retired from being in front of the camera and went into art direction, working for prestigious magazines such as Vogue, Surface, Interview, and advertisements for Victoria’s Secret, FedEx, Heineken, and Coach.  While art directing, Ryan got into scouting faces that led to a current 10 year career finding some of the most recognizable faces in male modeling today.

Ryan Colby has teamed up with CEO Alycia Kaback  http://www.alyciakaback.com - A leading entrepreneur in the art of networking and event management.  Together this powerful duo can pack a punch.

Colby Models represents well known faces like Antonio Sabato, Jr. of Janet Jackson fame as well as other established faces such as, Tereza Janakova and Brett White.

While its size gives Colby Models a nice feel, it may be too small. Colby Models Women’s Board only has 13 faces.  This leaves Good Agencies questioning how Colby is able to sustain itself.

Regardless, they have a a lot of great modeling success stories here.

Good Agencies Reviews Elite Management

Considered one of the pillars of the modeling industry, Elite Management was started in the fashion capital of the world- Paris- over 30 years ago. Elite has represented some of the biggest stars in the business. With an international presence in all the major markets, Elite just celebrated their 5 millionth booking.

Elite represents, or has represented such models as Tyra Banks, Gisele  Bündchen, Huggy Ragnarsson, Elle Macpherson, Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Carol Alt, Özge Ulusoy, Liya Kibede, Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum, Eva Herzigova, Tatiana Sorokko, Angelika Kallio, Paulina Porizkova, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jennifer Flavin, Coco Rocha, Veronica Webb and Stephanie Seymour.

Currently, their roster includes supermodels such as Paulina Porizkova to Victoria’s Secret’s Alessandra Ambrosio to current star Coca Rocha to new hot model Ali Stephens.  Elite today manages over 800 models from five continents.

Elite’s sizable roster of well-known models and their large quantity of bookings does not ensure their longevity– Elite has filed for bankruptcy in the past and there has been much controversy surrounding their business affairs.  I’m not too sure I would trust my career in the hands of Elite.

Good Agencies Reviews DNA

No agency owners actually personally sit down daily to search for jobs for their own models– DNA CEO David Bonnouvrier does. There is such a personal feeling with DNA Model Management.

Bonnouvrier understands the critical nature of connections in this business. He maintains relationships that go back a decade with some of the most influential power players in the industry.

When David isn’t plugging away for his models himself, he has an arsenal ruthless bookers like Marguerite Franklin, Didier Fernandez and Trudi Tapscott to back him up.   What you have is an agency of pure ambition, where the bookers take personal accountability.

DNA has posted spectacular results over the past few years.  From runway to editorials to campaigns, the new generation of modeling’s most valuable players NataliaEditaMagdalenaEugenia,  Eva J who are all from DNA.   Read about the success stories here:  http://www.dnamodels.com/newsletter/

Perhaps the personal touch at this agency makes it too small and DNA loses sight of the bigger picture.  DNA claims to represent celebrities, but if you take a look at their celebrities board there is hardly anyone of particular note, at least outside the tight-knit modeling world.

Good Agencies Reviews Click Model Management

Click Model Management, Inc. is the largest model management company, representing over 1000 models.  Click was founded in 1980 in New York City, but has opened offices throughout the United States.  The name “CLICK” is a reference to the sound a camera makes and is intended to pay respect to the photographers and crew who make magic happen.

Click represents a wide variety of talent with divisions focusing on Women, Men, Plus Size, Runway, Showroom, FIT, and Television Commercials.  Click has a full service Hair/Makeup and Styling division called Illusions, which was acquired at the time that Zoli Models became part of Click Models in 2001.

Many of the world’s most famous faces such as Isabella Rossellini, Uma Thurman, Whitney Houston, Elle MacPherson and Grace Jones have been represented by Click.  Of course, Click gets their models some really hot jobs with Givenchy and Vogue Paris, check it out on their blog: http://www.clickmodel.com/blog/

With so many models under their representation can all of Click’s models be quality talent? While Click has represented some of the biggest names in the industry, how can such a large company maintain quality control over the years in so many locations?  I’d be willing to bet the some of the models, especially those represented from smaller markets have never even been on a shoot.  From a casting director’s point of view it’s probably hit or miss with click.

Good Agencies Reviews Ford Models

The Ford Modeling Agency, or Ford Models as it is known now, was established in 1946 by Eileen and the late Gerard W. Ford.  With such a long history in this industry, it is one of the most recognized and respected agencies the world.

Check out their latest success stories here: http://www.fordmodelsblog.com/

The agency has represented a diverse list of models and celebrities including Anna Jagodzinska, Hanna Gaby Odiele, Tao Okamoto, Rose Cordero, Crystal Renn, Carmen dell’Orefice, Brad Kroenig, Paolo Anchisi, Lars Burmeister, and Adrian Bosch.

The company was the pre-eminent New York agency until Elite Model Management opened up, leading to the “model wars” of the 1980s. Ford, like many of the original agencies of the 70′s, now has to compete with a broad field of contenders.  How far can Ford’s name really take them into the future? I fear Ford may soon be phased out.

Good Agencies Reviews One Management

One Management was founded in 2002 by Scott Lipps. One, as the agency is often referred, was established to merge the gap between high-end editorial branding and rock and roll.

One has recently placed models with clients such as Marie Claire, H&M, Balenciaga, Vogue Russia, and much more.  The success stories can be found on their blog: http://www.onemanagement.com/news/

One represents some prominent figures, such as  Claudia SchifferHelena ChristensenChandra NorthEva HerzigovaImanJosie MaranBar Refaeli, and pop star Cassie.

The agency initially started as a model management/fashion house but became a full fledged entertainment company in 2006, bringing Fashion, Film, Music and Celebrity together.  The client list of ONE Music division includes Cassie, Duran Duran, Eve, Pete Wentz, Panic at the Disco.

The question of the day is: while representing so many different types of clients, is One Management ever able to focus and become truly the best at anything?  With so many varied projects, One management may be spread too thinly, making them unable to give their clients the best representation.
